Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of 51 hospitals and health systems with outstanding diabetes and endocrinology programs.
As noted by the leading healthcare publication, these organizations deliver comprehensive care for patients with endocrine system disorders—offering advanced diagnostics, personalized education, innovative treatments and access to the latest technologies and clinical research. From diabetes and thyroid conditions to metabolic disorders and beyond, these programs are making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.
CHOC’s nationally ranked endocrinology team provides expert diagnostic evaluations and the latest minimally invasive treatments for newborns, children, adolescents and young adults. Each year, the program diagnoses and treats more than 3,000 patients with Type 1 diabetes and 800 with Type 2 diabetes. The team utilizes cutting-edge tools, including digital retinal imaging, point-of-care urine microalbumin testing and point-of-care lipid screenings to deliver safe, effective care.
In collaboration with subspecialty teams, CHOC also supports patients through several specialized programs, including the Endocrine Effects of Cancer Survivorship Program, the thyroid cancer program and the cystic fibrosis-related diabetes program.
In addition, CHOC’s endocrinologists work closely with families affected by Prader-Willi syndrome—a complex genetic disorder that impacts growth, metabolism, appetite, behavior and learning. The team develops individualized care plans focused on early diagnosis and complication management.
As part of CHOC’s ongoing commitment to equity and access, the hospital partners with outside organizations to provide low- to no-cost genetic testing to eligible families.
This recognition from Becker’s Hospital Review reflects CHOC’s continued efforts to advance pediatric endocrinology and improve outcomes for children with complex endocrine conditions.
