CHOC has earned from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation a 2023 Outstanding Care Center Partnership Award for its collaborative contributions and ongoing commitment to furthering engagement in the cystic fibrosis (CF) community.
The annual Outstanding Partnership Award was established to recognize the care centers and their teams that have gone above and beyond in collaborating with their local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation chapters to help serve the CF community.
CHOC was nominated by the Orange County Southern California Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“We are honored to accept this special award,” said Dr. Pornchai Tirakitsoontorn, medical director of CHOC’s Cystic Fibrosis Center. “In addition to providing expert, compassionate care to our patients at the CHOC Cystic Fibrosis Center, we are committed to serving the broader CF community. CF can be an isolating condition, but we are committed to deepening connections between our patients, families and the broader community.”
Recipients of the award are selected based on a variety of criteria including:
- local collaboration efforts to engage community members;
- level of care team engagement with local chapter programs and events;
- care team involvement of chapter staff in center-directed initiatives; and
- a positive and collaborative relationship with local CF Foundation chapter.
The only pediatric facility in Orange County fully accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, CHOC’s center provides professional expertise, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and cutting edge treatments to children and teens with cystic fibrosis.
