Another win for the hospital and our Environmental Sustainability Program!
We are honored to have received the 2026 Greenhealth Champion Award from Practice Greenhealth—the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental sustainability in healthcare.
The Greenhealth Champion Award celebrates healthcare facilities and systems championing the growth and development of their sustainability programs. This award recognizes hospitals for outstanding performance in environmental sustainability across multiple operational areas, including waste reduction, energy and water conservation, sustainable food sourcing and environmentally preferred purchasing.
To be eligible for this award, applicants must submit greenhouse gas emissions data (Scopes 1 and 2 and at least one category of Scope 3) and submit at least 5 of the program pages for scoring, of which we submitted all 13 pages. The categories submitted for scoring included contributions from various departments and leaders such as Facilities, EVS, Physicians, Pharmacy, Nursing, Food Services, Procurement, and OR Services. Achieving this award emphasizes the growing impact of our Environmental Sustainability Program as a result of the 11 workgroups that are driving meaningful change across the organization through projects focused on reducing waste and improving operational efficiencies. This award is true testament that sustainability in healthcare is a team effort, and together we are building a healthier hospital for our patients, families and team members.
