In recognition of its cystic fibrosis program’s outstanding quality improvement processes and accomplishments, CHOC has earned a 2023 Quality Improvement Award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The CF Foundation instituted the Quality Improvement Award in 2008. They are presented each year at the U.S. center and program directors’ meeting held in conjunction with the CFF North American CF Conference.
“As one of 130 cystic fibrosis centers in the nation, we are especially honored to have received this award,” said Dr. Pornchai Tirakitsoontorn, medical director of CHOC’s Cystic Fibrosis Center. “CHOC is committed to ongoing quality improvement so we may provide the best possible care to our patients.”
The only pediatric facility in Orange County fully accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, CHOC’s center provides professional expertise, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and cutting edge treatments to children and teens with cystic fibrosis.
The center’s pediatric pulmonologists are board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology with additional training in treating cystic fibrosis. The center’s multidisciplinary team coordinates a patient’s care through every stage of treatment, from diagnosing CF to finding the right medication and treatments, and providing personalized education plans.
