Have you heard “The Choco Bear Song”?
I know I’m not the most typical patient at a children’s hospital, but I must have really made an impact on the folks at CHOC all those years ago because they wrote a song about me!
Many CHOC nurses are known to sing to their patients, but I don’t think many kids have a song written about them. How lucky am I?
In case you’re like me and always miss the song when it plays on the radio, here are the lyrics:
There was a young bear who climbed a tree
Chocolately Choco Bear
He took some honey for energy
Chocolately Choco Bear
But when he climbed high, I hate to tell
The tree went crack and down he fell
Upon his arm, which started to swell
Chocolately Choco Bear
Chocolately Choco Bear, was he
Chocolate-colored fur, had he
He broke his arm, it’s plain to see
Chocolately Choco Bear
To Children’s Hospital he did go
Chocolately Choco Bear
To get some care, now don’t you know
Chocolately Choco Bear
He wasn’t sure if a friend he’d find
But everyone there was oh, so kind
So after all, he didn’t mind
Chocolately Choco Bear
Chocolately Choco Bear, was he
Chocolate-colored fur, had he
He liked it here, it’s plain to see
Chocolately Choco Bear
But he had fun in the hospital
Chocolately Choco Bear
And wanted to stay and give his all
Chocolately Choco Bear
Now he lives there, as I recall
To cheer up kids, both big and small
Whenever they may come to call
Chocolately Choco Bear
Choco stayed in that special place
Chocolately Choco Bear
A smile he put on every face
Chocolately Choco Bear
The instruments all they lent a hand
To join Choco’s merry band
So now they call it Choco Land
Chocolately Choco Bear
Chocolately Choco Bear was he
Chocolate-colored fur had he
Welcome to Choco Land, says he
Chocolately Choco Bear
