Kimberly Chavalas Cripe, co-chief executive officer of Rady Children’s Health, was featured in the Orange County Business Journal’s (OCBJ) OC500 for 2025.
As noted by OCBJ, Ms. Cripe has served as the CEO and president of Orange County’s only dedicated pediatric hospital since 1997. Hospital has 334 licensed beds, 54-bed satellite facility in Mission Hospital and 6K-plus workers. Fourth largest hospital in OC with $1.1B in revenue.
Building on this foundation, the hospital opened its $300 million Southwest Tower in phases in June. The 330,000-square-foot outpatient and research facility is a major component of the hospital’s $1.3 billion master plan to expand capacity and prepare for the region’s future pediatric care needs.
This period of growth also coincides with a major organizational milestone: the former Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) recently completed its merger with Rady Children’s Hospital–San Diego, creating a new entity expected to generate roughly $3 billion in revenue and serve 2 million children.
“This merger marks a pivotal moment in our organizations’ rich histories and highlights our commitment to achieving unparalleled excellence in patient care, education, research and advocacy,” Ms. Cripe told OCBJ.
